Transport
There are two major options to get from the airport to the city.
Taxi
Taxi ranks are located on the ground floor outside Terminals 1 and 3 of Melbourne International Airport. Taxi from Melbourne Airport to Melbourne University is approximately $50. For fare estimation go to http://www.taxi.vic.gov.au/passengers/taxi-passengers/taxi-fares/taxi-fare-estimator
Skybus
Alternatively, you can use SkyBus which runs from the airport to Southern Cross station, with a one-way adult ticket costing $18. Information on location, fares, and timetables can be found here.
Once you are in the city, there are numerous ways to get around.
Myki
If you want to use trains, trams and/or buses in the city you will have to purchase a myki card and load it with money. You can buy a myki at close to 800 retail outlets including all 7-Eleven stores and selected retailers where you see the myki sign. City Circle
If you want a free alternative to tram travel there is the City Circle (Tram 35- Free Tourist Tram). The City Circle tram service operates within Melbourne's central business district. The service operates in a circular route passing major tourist attractions, as well as linking with other tram, train and bus routes in and around Melbourne.

Accommodation at Colleges across the university is available out of semester for non-students, on a casual basis.
