The Annual Meeting of Postgraduates in Hellenic or Roman Antiquities and Egyptology
26-28 November 2014
Welcome!
AMPHORAE, now into its eighth year, is the major conference for postgraduates in Australia researching the ancient world. Previous conferences have successfully drawn delegates from across Australia, New Zealand and around the world. The eighth instalment will be hosted by the University of Melbourne, from the 26th to the 28th of November 2014.
Our theme this year is Emerging Horizons: Material Culture, Text & Thought in Antiquity. The conference is open to postgraduate or Honours students who research any aspect of Antiquity, be it historiography, archaeology or literature; or the prehistoric, Egyptian, Hellenistic or Roman worlds. It is hoped that in response to our theme, we will attract a wide range of papers and interest. We also invite students from areas as diverse as prehistoric Eurasia and the ancient Near East to attend.
We are also pleased to announce that the Keynote Address will be delivered by Professor Hans Beck of McGill University.
The Call for Papers has now been issued. This page will be updated as the date draws nearer. In addition, the AMPHORAE Facebook group will also host updates. If there are any enquiries, please contact us via email or the Facebook group.
